Our drive was a little longer today, we left Bridge Lake around 8:20 and arrived at the Provincial Park just a little after lunch. For us that is a long drive!!!
This park is really very beautiful and it is easy to see why so many people want to be here during the summer. There are 271 sites so it is very big, I definately would not want to be in the back rows as I am sure it would be an all day excursion to take the family down to the lake!!!
The park staff have most of the sites closed off with only the front two rows open. We found a lovely double spot with a little sun shining on it. In the summer the big trees would be a great relief but when the sun is low in the sky it would have been nice to have had a little more sunshine. We were negligent leaving Bridge Lake as we had meant to put water in the holding tanks and had forgotten. Without water at the sites we did have to rough it as Bob had to haul water!!!! That was not a problem as we weren't at the site very much of the day.
There was no lack of space to ride our bikes, we took all the trails and roads we could, enjoying the afternoon out in the sunshine. Some of the trails had not been cleared as there were a few trees across the path which meant lifting our bikes over the trees. The sun was still quite warm down by the water but we didn't have enough time to do everything.
About 4 in the afternoon my cousin Gary came to pick us up. The sun was too low in the sky so we were not able to sit out on their deck to enjoy the end of the day - just a little too cold. We did have a wonderful visit and Liz prepared a yummy dinner. Gary is looking good, he said that things are looking up and the cancer is getting smaller. They drove us back to the site around 8 a little too late for a campfire so we read and finished up the evening in the camper. I must admit I was glad we were not in a tent as the people beside us were!
In the morning we will head to Salmon Arm.
