Budapest City tour with cruise

Budapest Day 3

It has been a very peaceful day with the brilliant sun shining down on us again. I had a much better sleep, not as good as it could have been but much better. We both slept to the alarm which woke us at 7. We had time for breakfast and a session on how to use the new VOX system before we left at 9 for our morning tour of the city.

The VOX system allows each tour guest to hear the guide through a receiver and earphones, much better than the old fashion of trying to hear the guide yelling above the crowds. This was very much a once over lightly morning tour of the city with a stop at Hero’s Square which celebrates Hungary’s history. Here we learnt a lot of their history which we had not known before.

Our tour took us through town where we only saw through the window of the bus many of the sites. The next stop took us to Castle Hill. It was nice to go with the guide as we had more explanation of the area we had explore the first day. We both were very glad that we had those 2 days before to explore the Old Town area as this tour only gave the rest of the group about 25 minutes to explore before we had to be back on the bus. Bob and I had taken probably about 4 – 5 hours exploring while we were staying on the hill. The best part of this stop was that Bob was able to find his afternoon cocktail stuff and I was able to buy a pair of ship board shoes.

This afternoon we have decided to take it easy, read, do Sudoku and maybe just go for a stroll along the river. This evening will be The Captain’s dinner so this will be the dress up evening.
