We arrived in Guayquill after a 1 and a half hour flight from the Galapagos. Once we had arrived we loaded up the suitcases and stowed them into the bus. We all kept our back packs with us as normally on one of our tours we leave our back packs in the bus while we tour and then head off to our next stop. Unfortunately this time the bus was taking our suitcases to the hotel and we would not see it until the next day. Since we had been flying we all had our back packs full to the gills with our valuable and all the other items we didn{t want in our suitcases just in case they got lost which meant most of our packs were really quite heavy.
Our first stop was a the reconstruction of an area of town which lead us after 444 stairs to some wonderful vistas of the city. Needless to say in 29 degree heat and high humidity we were not in great shape at the top!!! Back down the stairs we walked along the most beautiful park beside the river. Again if we all weren{t burdened down with our packs I am sure we would have enjoyed it more then we did. I know I did not take the pictures I would have liked. Arriving at the hotel we were all extremely pleased to drop our packs and wipe our faces on nice cold face clothes supplied by the hotel.
This was a Hilton hotel so it was lovely and the beds were oh so comfortable. It was a shame we only had those few hours in Guayaquill as there was so much to see and we had only scratched the surface.
We are up early in the morning heading toward Cuenca via the Andes.
