Cuzco Day 1 Sacsayhuaman

Just when you think you couldn't possibly see something that would awe you we went to see Sacsayhuaman this morning. This was the heart of the Inca civilization, the administrative centre. The complex is huge and the rocks here are nothing like we have seen in the last few Inca sites.

Before we went to Sacsayhuaman our adventure took us only a few blocks from our hotel where the Sun Temple was constructed, amazing that despite the Spaniards great portions of the the temple still exist inside the more modern (15th century) church. There is also one portion of the Sun Temple outside where we could see the marvellous rounded corners. To see how the Inca constructed those walls with corners and interlocked blocks. We ended our tour with a visit to the Christ figure which watches over the city. There is so much we could say about everything we have seen but a lot of narrative will have to wait until we get home.

Bob has not been feeling well so he didn't really enjoy this morning. He has slept most of the afternoon, I hope he is feeling better by this afternoon as we are going to a concert of Peruvian music and dancing before dinner.
